Requirements of the Malta Permanent Residence Programme
To qualify, the main applicant must be at least 18 years old and provide an affidavit confirming possession of at least EUR 500,000 in capital (with EUR 150,000 in financial assets). The following criteria must be met:
Purchase property worth EUR 350,000 (EUR 300,000 in South Malta or Gozo), or lease property for EUR 12,000 per year (EUR 10,000 in South Malta or Gozo) for a minimum of five years.
Contribute EUR 28,000 to the Maltese economy if purchasing property, or EUR 58,000 if leasing.
Donate EUR 2,000 to a non-governmental organization.
Pay a non-refundable administration fee of EUR 40,000.
Application Process and Timeline
The application process for the Malta Permanent Residence Programme is straightforward. Applications are submitted to the Residency Malta Agency, which conducts thorough due diligence checks. Successful applicants must complete the qualifying investments and will then receive a residence permit. The Residency Malta Agency will issue a Maltese residence certificate, which serves as the permit.
